Founded company to provide technical  and wireless consulting services and develop Internet-based services to the wireless telecommunications industry.  Provides telecom representation before industry groups and committees, microwave frequency coordination, PCS-Microwave interference analysis, microwave relocation services and other technical services.  

RF Consulting Services, Inc. (1999 – 2001)

President
Directed all areas of day-to-day operations of wireless consulting and services firm.  Managed growth of company through rapid growth and expansion of services and revenue.

OpenLink Corporation / Radio Dynamics Consulting Corporation (1995 - 1998)

President
Co-founder and President of wholly-owned subsidiaries of Radio Dynamics Corporation providing engineering software tools and consulting services for wireless and telecommunications companies. Managed company through start-up phase and development of several software and database applications. Directed all aspects of company business development, marketing, sales and operations. Served on the Board of Directors for Radio Dynamics Corporation.

BellSouth Corporation (1986 - 1995)

BellSouth Personal Communications, Inc. / BellSouth Wireless, Inc. (1993 - 1995)
Directed the development of a corporate technical strategy for PCS. Responsible for all engineering and technical areas in the development of business cases in preparation for PCS auctions. Directed the research of all PCS technologies leading to a technology selection which achieved business objectives. Conducted the review of vendors leading to the selection of a major supplier for network infrastructure equipment. Directed participation in all industry committees and organizations including PCIA, TIA, NPAG and the GSM MoU.

As a Director in the PCS operating company following the award of MTA licenses, developed the initial system design and multi-year deployment plan. Responsible for the development of a technical organization structure and staffing of all Engineering functions. Developed capital and operating budgets for first five years of technical operations with responsibility for deployment of over $300 million in capital funding.

BellSouth Cellular Corporation (1992 - 1993)
Responsible for the research of new technologies and technical development of new products and services for all BellSouth Cellular markets and multiple cellular system vendor platforms (AT&T, Ericsson, Motorola, Hughes). Included the development of business plans for the implementation of IS-54 TDMA and CDPD. Directed the product definition and commercial implementation of AIN and software-based services such as ProLink (one number service) and roamer announcement and information services. Developed the implementation plan and directed the field implementation of MobiLink roamer verification and call delivery services.

Director - Network
BellSouth Mobility Inc. (1987 - 1992)
Managed engineering and operations for BellSouth Mobility’s largest region which included the Atlanta cellular system and multi-state markets. Directed the growth of the Atlanta supersystem from a 30 cell system to over 150 cells, multiple switching offices and a coverage area of over 15,000 square miles. Responsible for an annual capital budget of over $50 million and a staff of 90 employees. Areas of responsibilities included system design, network engineering, equipment engineering, real estate, construction and field operations.

General Manager - System Design
BellSouth Mobility Inc. (1986 - 1987)
Responsible for RF, traffic and microwave engineering for cellular systems in Florida, Kentucky and Tennessee. Managed conversion of over 100 cells from leased facilities to microwave network. Directed system design and conversion from omni-directional to sectored cell configurations. Managed system translations for the three state region.

MicroLink Systems, Inc. (1985-1986)

Principal
Co-founder and major stockholder of company developing VSAT satellite news gathering (SNG) vehicles for the broadcast television industry. Developed design of small aperture Ku-band satellite uplink/downlink station on mobile broadcast vehicle. Sales included vehicles for Gannett television stations in Denver, Phoenix and Atlanta and independent operators in Washington, D.C..

VideoStar Connections (1984-1985)

Director of Engineering
Responsible for all technical operations for satellite teleconferencing, private VSAT networks and fleet of remote uplink vehicles providing program transmission facilities to broadcast networks and major corporations. Supervised staff of engineers and operations personnel in offices nationwide. Provided services to ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and other international television networks along with major corporate customers such as Hewlett-Packard and IBM. Provided satellite transmission facilities for political primaries and 1984 Democratic and Republican Conventions along with 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.

Scientific-Atlanta (1981-1984)

Satellite Communications Division
Provided technical support to Sales and Marketing along with implementation management of major satellite earth station facilities for broadcast television customers. Responsible for complete program management of installation, commissioning and customer acceptance of 10 and 11 meter earth stations. Responsible for scheduling manufacturing of products, installation personnel and all subcontractors as well as project budget management. Major projects included installation of the west coast satellite transmission facility for the ABC network in Hollywood and both television and radio transmission facilities for The Nashville Network.

Various Broadcast Engineering Management Positions (1976-1981)

Responsible for engineering management of various broadcast radio stations in the Kentucky and Tennessee area including WBYQ-FM (Nashville, TN), WKHX-FM (Nashville, TN) and WKYU-FM (Bowling Green, KY).
